The Folk Celebration in TEBEA

1. The Circuit: Tebea - Bulzestii de Sus - the Gaina Mountain - Tebea (70km)

Access: AR+CR+WR

Duration of the fair: 2 days

The road is accessible by car - 15 km of asphalt road up to Bulzestii de Sus from where a pebbled road goes up close to the top of the Gaina Mountain.

The Fair of Girls takes place every year on the vast plateau on top of the Gaina Mountain at 1,500 m, on a Sunday around the 20th of July. While in the past this event was an opportunity for young people to meet and get married, today the participants spend the night at the light of the camp fires, admire the sunrise from the top of the mountain and witness a true parade of folk costumes and dances. The event is expected every year by the people living in the villages around the Gaina Mountain and the Saturday before the fair, an exodus of people and cars from all the neighboring valleys start the ascent to the top of the mountain.

2. The Folk Celebration in Tebea

As a recent tradition, the folk celebration in TEBEA takes place every year at the beginning of September and is dedicated to the memory of the national hero AVRAM IANCU. The celebration attracts many people not only from TEBEA but also from the adjacent villages and even from farther places.

The celebration begins with a religious service at the tomb of Avram Iancu in the cemetery of the church in TEBEA. Then a folk spectacle takes place in the natural amphitheater provided by the hill near the Cultural House of the village. Local and nationwide renowned artists and folk groups participate to the event.
